OFELIA or OPHELIA such a lovely name. there is something so feminine according to some of the sites I have used for name meanings Ophelia means help. but BEHIND A NAME Meaning & History . OPHELIA is derived from Greek οφελος (ophelos) meaning “help”. This name was probably created by the 15th-century poet Jacopo Sannazaro for a character in his poem ‘Arcadia’. It was borrowed by Shakespeare for his play ‘Hamlet’ (1600), in which it belongs to Hamlet‘s lover who eventually goes insane and drowns herself. In spite of this, the name has been used since the 19th century.

I love the name Ophelia, and wanted to use it as a potential name for a daughter, but it’s such a tragic character to name a baby after. Sigh.

I agree, there can be names that we love, but must save for just a character we write! I do know an Ofelia who has had a very nice life, marriage and four lovely daughters, it does not necessarily bring tragedy to a life.
