Five Star Treatment – The Bone Church by Victoria Dougherty

#DEFINEDbyOTHERS Book Tour

About the
Book:
A word, a single word
defines a moment for Anne. She needs to find a new one when her spouse leaves
her at the age of 47, coming out of the closet literally in a closet. She finds
herself back in her hometown amongst her high school friends which she left
behind in her past.

An inheritance from a friend leaves her with the means to
meddle and spy on the lives of some of their mutual acquaintances. In an attempt
to run from her reality Anne gets engrossed in a game of “fun” and “flirtation”
with her friend and fellow sufferer Connie at her side. Anne however did not
read all the files and what to her is fun games turns into a deadly reality. It
is no longer a game.

Life, death and not even a defining word can stop the
reality of manipulation.

A Paranormal Mystery – Remember Della

Book Description:

Kat, a “slightly” psychic sixteen-year-old, begins having disturbingly persistent dreams. Dreams of a yellow scarf – with a seeming life of its own – which taunts her and haunts her every dream. Dreams about Della, a fellow classmate, who to this point has remained all but invisible to any and every one at school. Kat eventually comes to the realization that until she unravels the mystery surrounding that “dagblasted” creepy yellow scarf and this girl she hardly knows, she’ll not have another night’s rest. What Kat soon discovers is that she is the only person in Della’s life (including the girl’s mother and stepfather) who recognizes – or will admit – Della has simply vanished, gone “splitsville”! And Kat is helpless as her life becomes indelibly intertwined with Della’s – so much so, that she will carry the emotional scars for years to come.

Kat is surrounded by an extremely colorful cast of characters. You will meet: long-time friend and recent love interest, Em; Kat’s precocious eight-year-old brother, Gordy; her feisty octogenarian neighbor, Mrs. Harper and a chain smoking waitress named Clovis. All who, for various reasons, join Kat’s desperate quest to help a girl she hardly knows and to find answers to questions that, with any luck, will bring her the peace she seeks – the biggest question on her mind being, “Why me?”

“Remember Della” – which is predominately set in the South during the mid-fifties – is chock full of facts, trivia and slang from that era. While an entertaining read, I believe this book addresses bullying – both physical and emotional – in a fresh and unique way during a time before such issues were “labeled” as unacceptable or problematic.

Picture

Author Bio:I was born and raised in the South and to this day reside in South Carolina with my dashing husband, crotchety cat and nimble Jack Russell. My first novel, Remember Della, definitely reflects that Southern upbringing; and like Katherine, my main protagonist, I am also a child of the fifties.

I have enjoyed reading my entire life and relish childhood memories of long, languid summers spent in lawn chairs beneath shady old trees—my best friend and I devouring one library book after another. I hope to be proof of the old adage that everyone has at least one good book in them—but suppose that remains to be seen. You, the reader, will be the judge of that.

Drawing and painting have always been passions of mine, but I had never tried my hand at writing until my mother passed away several years ago. During my grieving process I found that painting was not keeping my mind as busy as I would have liked. Painting allowed me too much time to think. So in an attempt to ease my sadness, I decided to try a new creative outlet. The result was a 24,000 word children’s chapter book (as yet unpublished) and a newfound love—writing! In fact, I am in love with the entire writing process, especially the part where I get to tell really tall tales—and get away with it . . .

RAFFLECOPTER GIVEAWAY

INTERVIEW ~ REYNA HAWK and paranormal experiences

Maria Ridge was born having gifts that allowed her to see and speak into the spirit world. As she aged these gifts came to be more of a curse than a blessing. At 17 she escaped the tauntings from not only the town but also from her family to embark on a journey that leads her to discover others like herself, secrets to her past, and the reality of her gifts. With the help of her new friend, Allie, Maria feels she finally found her place in this world. The destined meeting of Ash awakens the two girls to the fine veil between this world and the next. Can Maria survive the haunting evil that threatens her? This book is based on true paranormal events. The names of people and places have been changed in order to enhance the story line. However, all paranormal events are due to personal experiences or eyewitness accounts. THIS BOOK WAS REVISED IN JUNE OF 2013 TO INCLUDE NEW EXPERIENCES AND THE NARRATIVE WAS CHANGED TO FIRST PERSON.

1)      What
inspired the book Angels & Arrows?

The book is based on true
events that occurred either personally to me or to family members or friends. I
changed locations, time frames, and names of people strictly to enhance the
story. There is very little that is fabricated in the book. The only part that
has not occurred is the ending scene.

2)      Why
did you choose to fabricate that scene?

Well, to be honest I was
going to end it in a different manner. However, so many people that read the
ARC said they didn’t like it because it kind of left the reader hanging. I
wanted to give a happy ending to the main character, she (I) have been through
a lot. I guess you could say it is how I would like for the situation to end.

3)      So
the main character is based on you and your life?

Yes, 95% of the
paranormal activity that happens to Maria in the book, has happened to me.

4)      Do
you by chance have any abilities along those lines?

Yes I do. I can “read”
people and tell certain things about them. The best way I can explain it is
that I just know these things. It is as if I’ve known this person for a long
time and know their habits and personality. The best way I describe it is like
this… a person knows things about their spouse, best friend, relative etc. No
one tells them, they just know that habit or personality trait; this is how it
happens to me. I can also communicate with spirits. I would not say that I am
another Long Island Medium or anything like that, it just happens; I don’t know
why or how, it just does.

5)      How
old were you when you first realized you had these abilities?

From the time I was about
three or four years old I knew I could talk to spirits. I could see them and
talk to them. I had an experience when I was about 6 years old where an old
woman came and visited me in the middle of the night. I saw this woman two
other times in the coming years. It wasn’t until about 5 or so years ago that I
realized I could actually read people. I always thought it was just my
intuition telling me things about the person. However, when I began asking
people certain things that were revealed to me, they were astounded because
there was no way I could have known those things; things they had told no one.

6)      Have
you met many people with similar abilities?

Yes I have met quite a
few people, thanks to social media. My best friend also has the same abilities
as me. It is comforting to know that I am not as weird and a freak as I once
thought I was because of this ability. It can be very difficult at times,
judged and criticized that I call on something evil or dark to get this information.
I am just like every other person that believes in God and Jesus. I pray
regularly and no, it does not come from something evil.

7)       Did it ever feel like you were too different a
burden?

When I was younger it was
more difficult and there were only a select few that I told about my abilities.
Now that I am older and wiser, I don’t really care what people think about me.
I don’t go around advertising that I can do these things, and I surely don’t
approach people on the street.

8)      What
made you decide to talk about it now?

With the release of
Angels & Arrows I wasn’t going to deny or hide this any longer. I also hope
that perhaps this will help someone that is going through a similar situation that
is having a hard time getting people to believe them. It is hard to change
someone’s mind when they do not believe or do not want to believe that things
can and do happen. I am sure there are those individuals that make things up
and lie about the paranormal activity that goes on around them. Those people
give the rest of us that it is actually happening to a bad name and instilling
that stigma that was placed on us a long time ago. For those that have similar
abilities that they hide or that are afraid of the laughter and mockery they
will get for the belief of the paranormal activities that are happening around
you… you are not alone, there is someone out there that does understand.

VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR CAFE ~ WE GO ON , Charity Anthology for Veterans

Book Genre: Charity Anthology, Veterans

Publisher: Indie

Release Date: March 9, 2015

Buy Link(s): Amazon

Book Description:
The poems and stories included in this anthology, written by various authors, tell of veterans outside of war, of how their sacrifice of service changed their lives long after the war was over. Although some of the messages of the sacrifices of war are sadly timeless, they speak of unsung heroes, and I say unsung because nothing we could ever do for them would ever be enough to say thank you for all they gave. With that said, with these poems and stories, we will give what we can. 100% of the profits made will go to charities for veterans.
To all who have served and to all of those who love them, we offer our undying gratitude because it is all we truly have to give you for your sacrifices, told and untold. So, we give what we can to honor you, to say thank you, and to, in some small way, give back. Although it could never be enough, a million thanks or a million dollars, we pray we can help some of the many who have given so much, so selflessly, and then suffered even as they fought another battle, the battle to go on…
