P.I. I Love You Miss Demeanor P.I. by Joanne Jaytanie

P.I. I Love You
Miss Demeanor P.I. Book 1
by Joanne Jaytanie
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Mystery, Adventure
Rivers don’t let rocks hold them back. River Nightingale has decided to
blow past the rocky men in her life.
She’s played by the rules for too long—especially when it came to her
career as a cop. She was the top closer of cases for years, but
promotions in her small town cop shop went to her less productive
male counterparts. River decides it’s time to change careers. She
leaves her small town to purchase a Seattle private detective agency
and become her own boss.
Homicide Detective Gage Hamlin takes pride in his job; he closes cases and
fosters justice. All that changed the day River Nightingale sauntered
into his office. River has him questioning his pride, his cases, and
his aversion to private detectives, especially beautiful private
detectives.
River’s client thinks Gage got it wrong, and River is forced to prove Gage
missed a murder. Will River and Gage find a way to play nice, or will
River be forced to leave Gage behind?
Twice As Bad
Miss Demeanor, P.I. Book 2
For private investigator River Nightingale, the stakes are high, and her
losses are twice as bad.
River has already lost a partner to a better job, and now a truck has mowed
down another partner and a key informant. Her surviving crew is
reeling and dead set on finding the killer. Working with them is a
Seattle PD homicide detective, Gage Hamlin. Gage and River have been
a volatile combination since day one, but now it’s twice as tense,
as they both seek the killer and Gage struggles to keep River alive.
On the waterfront, Seattle is known for slinging fish, but River’s
stakeout of a seafood plant reveals that fish aren’t the only thing
being sold on the docks. And if River isn’t careful, fish aren’t
the only thing that will end up dead on the docks.
Looming dangers lurk closer with every clue River uncovers. River’s
business, her relationship, her friends, and her life are all in
jeopardy. And the cost of solving the case is at least twice as bad
as usual.

Heath puts Alaska into your soul.” -Judy Smrdel
“Heath has tapped his
intimate knowledge of Alaska, its people, its coastal communities and
its interior uniqueness and crafted a character-rich, page-turning,
murder mystery.” -An Alaskan
She stares at her mother’s clumsy lettering on the envelope. Nine years.
Nine years since she stepped over her mother’s drunken body and into
a cold Alaska night running south, leaving her mother forever. How
did she find me? She hesitates, knowing the letter inside will drag
her home; back into the bleakness of a life with no exit. Kris
Gabriel, Alaska Native, and fierce like a wolverine, returns to
Alaska–to find her mother murdered. Guilty she abandoned her in
life, Kris only knows to fight. Relentlessly, she tracks a trail of
pain, of lost love, of lives ripped apart by the frozen north’s
unyielding laws, never suspecting that she has far more at stake than
just finding her mother’s killer.

Broken Angels is a fast-paced Alaskan noir filled with
richly drawn characters struggling to survive in a hostile country
where there are no second chances.
In his teens, Russell Heath hitchhiked to Alaska and lived in a cabin on

then traveled overland across the Sahara, through the jungles and
over the savannas of Africa and into southern Asia; in his thirties,
he sailed alone around the world in a 25 foot wooden boat; in his
forties, he wrote novels; and in his fifties he bicycled the spine of
the Rockies from Alaska to Mexico.
He’s worked on the Alaska Pipeline, as an environmental lobbyist in the
Alaska Legislature, and run a storied environmental organization
fighting to protect Alaska’s coastal rainforests. Several years ago,
he moved to New York City to dig deep into leadership development and
coaching. He now coaches business and non-profit leaders intent on
making big things happen in the world.

A Jefferson Ball Adventure Book 2
by David Perlmutter
Genre: YA SciFi Fantasy
Major Hamilton Pomeranian, once a highly decorated Star Soldier, has been
discharged for a recently gained injury. Now forced into a
non-military life, she is uncertain about what to do until
reconnecting with Jefferson Ball, an old army buddy, and agreeing to
assist her at her “job”- not realizing exactly what that
will involve until it is too late…
An exciting story from the author of “Nothing About Us Without Us”.
The Singular Adventures of Jefferson Ball
A Jefferson Ball Adventure Book 1
There never was a heroine like Jefferson Ball.
And, thankfully, there may never be.
She is, simply, the most powerful humanized female dog in a universe full
of them. Faster, stronger, more attractive to boys. Unbeatable as a
lover. Unfortunately, her brains are not up to this quality, but
don’t tell her that.
About the only one who can is Major Hamilton Pomeranian, the diminutive
ex-soldier who is Jeff’s best friend and conscience. When she gets
too big for her limited clothing, Hamilton tells her what for. And
it’s usually only after that point that they are able to escape
from whatever convoluted situation they find themselves in.
This potential collection will have readers both laughing and awestruck at
the events that happen. And, hopefully, you will be one of them.

Venomous magic penetrating the resistant. In the end, all kings must fall.
With Anders displaced from the campaign in Southland, he must navigate through
more than just the foreign land he awakes in. The sapphire’s
intoxicating grip has given him more than just a craving for power.
Its tainted magic pushes him closer to the precipice of becoming more
like the evil that he is foretold to destroy. As he attempts to
resist the darkness, Anders must work through his pain and return to
the fight he abandoned so suddenly.
After the allied armies are forced to disband, the five nations begin to feel the
effects of the dark sorcerer’s imperial rule. With Westland
occupied by foreign invaders and Southland flooded with orcs, the
humans must band together in resistance. Unlike the elves, who can
hide behind their magically protected walls, the other races in
Kartania’s kingdoms are drastically affected by the absence of an
allied dragonrider. Without a united army to combat Merglan’s
expansion, the fate of Kartania hangs in the balance. Can Anders
resist the urges he feels to allow the evil inside? Can he work with
his dragon to gain back what advantage they once had? Will Kirsten
survive long enough to see Westland’s revolt? What will become of
Ivan and those left behind in Southland?

From Book 1: Wind
Catcher

WINNER: 2015 Readers’ Favorite Gold Medal – Young Adult
Coming-of-Age

Lies. Betrayal. Destiny. A choice that changes
everything.

My name is Juliet Wildfire Stone, and I am special. I see visions and
hear voices, and I have no idea what they mean.

When someone murders medicine men in my sleepy Arizona town, I can’t
help but worry my crazy grandfather is involved. He’s a medicine man and
more than a just a little eccentric. He likes to tell me stories about
the Great Wind Spirit and Coyote, but none of it makes any sense. I
thought I knew the truth, but in order to clear his name I dive into his
alien world and uncover an ancient secret society formed over two
hundred years ago to keep me safe—me! And I can’t help but to
start to wonder whether there’s some truth to those old stories my
grandfather has been telling me.

I just want to be an average sixteen-year-old girl, but apparently I’ve
never been average. Could never be average. I didn’t know it before, but
I’m a Chosen, and those voices I’ve been hearing… well, they’re not
just “voices.” I’ve started to develop abilities, but they might not be
enough. A powerful entity called a Seeker is hunting me and he’s
close—really close.

I thought I knew the answers but truth is, I don’t. Betrayed by those I
love, I must choose to run or risk everything in order to fulfill my
destiny. I hope I make the right choice. Don’t you?

Includes a special sneak preview of the second book in the
series, Brink of Dawn.

I need answers only my father can provide. Separated from birth, we’ve
only recently connected. Still, I have no one else to turn to. The
Deltites are hunting me and they’re close now. We’ll fight our final
battle soon. Needing more information, I force him to tell me a story
about the beginning, my beginning. He sheds new light on my mom, on my
grandfather Sicheii, and on how I started down this path. He spins a
tale about love, a recent murder, and mysterious strangers who come to
town looking for a medicine man, my grandfather. My father reveals his
own shadowy past in the story, too, but I’m not worried about who he
used to be. I care only about who he is now, and who I am, and the foe I
face. He made a choice back then, and it led to all of this. Now I give
him a second chance—an opportunity to make things right.

Charlie Henson Series by Louy Castonguay Genre: Cozy Mystery

“My Neighbor’s Keeper,” the first in a series, is centered on
retired paramedic Mrs. Charlotte Henson, aka Charlie or Mrs. H. She’s
sixty years old and a widow. Her husband, a former police officer,
was run down by a drunk driver three years before. Charlie befriends
shy six-year-old Bert, from next door. One evening, Bert comes to her
door, dirty, tattered and crying. His mother won’t wake up and his
two younger sisters, he says, are hungry. Charlie runs to the rescue,
and ends up embroiled in a murder. Bert’s mother is crumpled at the
foot of the cellar stairs. When Charlie realizes she’s under
surveillance, she sneaks out the back door and down to the river,
where her canoe is kept. She gets out on the river, at night, in a
rainstorm, goes upriver and travels to a cabin hidden in the woods in
order to buy time to solve the crime. Along her journey, she makes
friends, and also gets help from her husband’s niece, Louise.

Child’s Keeper
Charlie Henson Book 2
This Maine mystery tale, “Child’s Keeper,” is the second book
in the Charlie Henson series. Charlotte, aka Charlie, a retired
paramedic, embroils herself in international intrigue when she
attempts to help a friend. She discovers that Shirley, the
great-granddaughter of her friend Susie, has gone missing, along with
her two young daughters. She soon learns Shirley has fled to Canada
and travels there to find out what is going on. The oldest daughter,
Shawna, is soon in the hands of Canadian authorities, caught in a
sinister plot to find Shirley. Charlie locates the daughter, steals a
snowmobile, and crosses back into Maine. The situation becomes very
complicated when she herself is kidnapped by the very criminals
interested in finding Shirley. When she finds herself back in Canada,
on the snowmobile trail again, she is able to effect an escape for
herself and Shawna. Will help arrive in time, or will the bad guys
find her first? In this journey, she gets help from unexpected places
and from old friend Ronny Curtis.
I am a double graduate from UMF. My first degree in 1989 was in
Community Nutrition, with a minor in chemistry, the better to plot
murders. My second degree, in 1994, was for the newly developed BFA
in Creative Writing but had to be fluent in a foreign language. I’m
Franco American, so aced that.
I have worked at various jobs throughout Central Maine, including shoe
shops, egg plants, wool mills, office jobs, finally spending time as
a volunteer driver for Community Concepts. Life experiences along the
way have given much material for my books.
I am currently hard at work on the series, doing promotional activities
and hope to have a web site up soon. I’m also running a blog, Keeper
Series, to keep my reader’s abreast of my progress. I hope to have
the next volume out by April.

Interview with ALEX HAYES author of SIREN SONG

  • To create the character Connell Kurēn did you have a chance to interview any paparazzi?

I confess, I didn’t interview any press photographers or paparazzi. Instead, I searched for articles about the paparazzi and about the challenges they face and their reputation. I’ve only run into a paparazzo once, in New York City, when I was meeting a friend who is a retired actor. It was a bit of a spooky experience because I wasn’t expecting this guy with a camera to appear out of nowhere!

  • Connell Kurēn is an unusual name. How did you come up with it? Where is he from? How old is he? What led him to such an unpopular profession?

It’s fun planting meaning in names. I chose Rowan and Connell because they are both Celtic names and they appealed to me. As with Idris and Cadi/Catrin (which are Welsh), I’ve pair the names of bond mates to a nationality. Kurēn means crane in Korean, and as Connell transforms into a birdlike creature, I thought that would be a very appropriate name for him.

  • Your character Rowan Bren suffers from PTSD, I love when a book opens awareness through fiction in a way that can help readers be aware. How and why did you choose PTSD?

Post Traumatic Stress is something that’s in the news and our social awareness a lot these days and it seemed an appropriate disorder for Rowan to suffer, considering the trauma she deals with in Perfect Pitch.

  • Los Angeles is like New York one of those cities that we all love to visit and feel as part of the experience, Did you use a map of L.A. to help the characters navigate the city ?

Yes, I did use a map, but also relied on my memories of the L.A. area and California in general. I spent my teenage in Northern California and I have many fond memories. It’s always a treat to go back there.

  • Siren Song is the third in Chameleon effects. Can they be read as stand-alone or do we need to get to know the characters from one book to another?

I’ve tried to provide enough backstory that each book can be read independently, but to get the most enjoyment out of the stories, they should be read in order.

  • I see that you live in Guanajuato. Have the Mummies there inspired any of your stories?

The Mummies haven’t inspired me, yet, but you never know, there might be such a book in my future!

There are some beautiful old buildings in this area of Mexico, including the ex-hacienda where I live. In this hacienda, there are underground passages connecting the ex-hacienda with the church, granary and mill. The passages still exist, but as far as we can tell, they’re blocked. We have not attempted to explore them, other than to look down a hole where the first arch is visible. Also, in a town close by, stands a convent that is magnificent (built by the same Catholic priests who built our hacienda). It’s constructed like a fortress with amazing flying buttresses and beautiful inner courtyards. Definitely a place to get inspired and would make an amazing setting for a Gothic novel.

On the topic of setting books in Mexico, I do have a planned trilogy that is partly set in an old hacienda with underground passageways. (You can probably guess where that idea came from!) The hacienda in the story is actually a hybrid of two different haciendas, as I needed aspects of both in the plot. It was great fun creating this imaginary place, and I can’t wait to spend more time there.

Siren Song
Alex Hayes
(The Chameleon Effect #3)
Publication date: October 15th 2019
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Young Adult

Connell Kurēn doesn’t love being a paparazzo…

He’s a member of the most scorned profession in Hollywood, but he’s good at it, and a hard-ass to boot.

He might also be called an ambulance chaser, though not for the disreputable reason he chases celebrities. Connell has the ability to heal, and at the sound of a siren, he is drawn to those in need.

Life is just fine until his pushy paparazzi nature almost gets someone killed.

Rowan Bren suffers post-traumatic stress and a permanent headache following a near-death experience at the hands of her mortal enemy. After months, she still isn’t right, but she won’t be held back from seeking her bond mate, Con, any longer.

She travels to Los Angeles motivated to help her friend, Idris, with his brilliant plan to locate their missing people. But Rowan’s top priority in the City of Angels is to find Con. She doesn’t know where he lives, but she’s not worried, because her crystal will lead her straight to him.

When she trips into his world, she finds a man so different from the person she expects, she fears he might not be Con at all. That he might be possessed by an evil force like the one that almost killed her.

Siren Song is the third novel of the Chameleon Effect series.
