Blood for Pearls

by Peter Von Perle

Historical Thriller

Date Published: October 12, 2023

A Legacy Written in Blood and Pearls…

In 1498, the world was on the brink of a seismic shift. Christopher Columbus, during his fateful third voyage, stumbled upon the Pearl Coast—an enchanting realm teeming with riches beyond imagination. Yet, behind the glistening pearls lay a dark and treacherous history that would forever change the course of human lives.

At the heart of this gripping historical thriller lies Cubagua Island, a place where dreams and nightmares intertwined. Here, the lives of two souls, Charaima, a Native American, and Dembe, an African, were forever altered. Enslaved by the avaricious European invaders and subjected to unimaginable cruelty under the sadistic Captain Pedro, they clung to each other, united by a shared determination to secure their people’s freedom.

Hidden amidst the chaos and suffering, a cache of pearls was concealed in a buried clay jar—a symbol of hope and a means to their liberation.

Cubagua Island, once renowned as The Pearl Coast, bore witness to the ruthless harvest of an estimated two-hundred billion oysters, yielding twelve tons of pearls sent to Spain—a treasure that exceeded all other exports combined. But this insatiable greed came at an unthinkable cost. Within two decades, the entire Native population had been decimated, and the first African enslaved people in America toiled as pearl divers on the island’s shores.

Blood for Pearls unravels this dark and little-known chapter of history through the tireless efforts of Peter Von Perle, an American researcher and writer. Born in Venezuela, he became captivated by the hidden stories of early American natural saltwater pearl fisheries. For over a decade, he traversed the globe, unearthing secrets of the sixteenth-century pearl trade, and engaging with a multitude of experts, from gemologists and museum curators to archaeologists and historians. Now, he unveils his findings in this pulse-pounding historical thriller.

Prepare to be transported to a world where pearls are more than mere jewels—they are symbols of survival, resilience, and the enduring human spirit. Blood for Pearls is a spellbinding journey through history’s most precious bloodshed, where beauty and brutality converge in the name of wealth, and where the true savages were not those who perished, but those who invaded.

Join in the unearthing of this untold history of the Pearl Coast. Get your copy of Blood for Pearls: The First American Genocide today and dive into a mesmerizing saga of adventure, deceit, and the relentless pursuit of freedom and wealth.

Losing My Breath

by J Rose Black

Genre: Contemporary Romance

A Marine never says die.
Neither does his princess.

Battle lines are drawn when sheltered debutante Meridian Daly moves across the hall from grumpy former special forces Marine Callan Brand. Situated a bit closer than advertised to ‘crime alley’, Meridian’s neighbor finds himself grudgingly guarding the pampered princess out of habit. But with her sharp wit and killer curves, he can’t help but surrender to temptation…

When their relationship evolves from casual courtship to something more, Callan finds that Meridian’s already discovered his closely-guarded secret. But can he let go of his pride, and tell her the whole truth of who he is and what he’s done—in the name of honor and country?

As Callan’s scars start to reveal themselves, his life spirals beyond the careful control that’s helped him survive—and kept those he cares about safe.

From him.

But this tough-in-a-tiara princess won’t back down, even in Callan’s darkest hours. And Meridian just might prove to be more tenacious than a never-say-die Marine!

My Life on Tender Anna and Cal

by A.G. Billig

Book 1 in My Life on Tender series

Rockstar Romance/Contemporary Romance

Date Published:  11/11/2023

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Curl up with your next favorite rockstar romance and meet these two hot lovers…

A gipsy fortuneteller predicted I had three years to find true love in a foreign land, away from home. But not in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d end up falling in love with a smoking hot rockstar from Southern California…

I’ve always had a thing for tall, dark-eyed, handsome guitar players. Now, I’m dating one. Cal is a famous rock star from Southern California, and I accidentally matched with him on Tender. When he passionately explores my naked body and makes love to me, he takes me to paradise. However, when he flirts with his cute neighbor or forbids me to touch his ugly, I’m in agony and fear I have made the wrong choice.

Cal’s unpredictable nature keeps me on my toes. He showers me with gifts and love on one day, but on the next, he acts as if I’m his worst enemy and turns cold. As if his dark past and emotional scars won’t let him open his heart again and love a woman. As if he is a complex riddle that I cannot solve.

The quartz crystal gifted to me by the gypsy fortuneteller seems to agree with it. It’s supposed to turn pink when I find true love, but it stays white. That is the reason why Tender is still installed on my phone, and I keep on swiping left and right. Tender is my trusted friend, my accomplice, and a contingency plan if Cal and I fail.

However, this is not an option. I’ll make things work between us. I’ll make him adore me. Beg me to become the second Mrs. Hudson and stay with him in California. I’ll keep my promise to myself to never again squander another birthday, drowning in my own tears.

Arina and Cal is a rockstar romance novel and the first book in My Life on Tender Trilogy. If you enjoy spicy scenes, unexpected plot twists, an unconventional female protagonist, and surprise endings this novel is for you. The book is also packed with your favorite tropes: one of us is famous, grumpy sunshine, blind to love, and emotional scars.

Get cozy in your reading corner and dive into this steamy romance book. Let the warmth of the love story chase away the chill of the season.

 About the Author

It is hard to tell where a story comes from.

Sometimes I write an idea down, sometimes Adam, the illustrator, draws a picture. Sometimes we both have the same idea at the same time which is when we know we are on the right track.

I then write down too many words, and Adam draws too many pictures.

Adam and I then spend the rest of our creative time arguing over which words and which pictures to use. Eventually, we believe we have chosen the right words and the right pictures for the story.

We then try to turn the words and pictures into a book and realise that, in fact, we must start all over again.

This is known as the artist’s journey.
