lies and games

Poetry, Men’s Issues

Date Published: December 27, 2025

Lies and Games is a collection about what men learn to hide and how that hiding becomes habit. Written from lived experience, these poems explore attraction, silence, and the tension between wanting closeness and fearing it. The poems documents moments and the cost of staying guarded. This book captures the journey of becoming with all the confusion and broken edges that come with it. This is not a love story. It’s what happens around one.

About the Author

A New Yorker by identity, R.R. King learned to live with armor, both literally and figuratively. Known for discipline and presence whose life demanded strength before vulnerability. He spent years building a life defined by control and resilience, but poetry came from the moments when that armor slipped. Lies and Games documents a masculine unraveling. His writing speaks to the experience of standing in a full room and still feeling alone and exploring his adulthood through trials and errors.

“Laura, girl. It’s me! Your pa has come to see you.” His voice was oily and sinister.

He reached for her arm, but she recoiled. A horrible weakness overtook her, and Laura found herself feeling like a child again, as she always did in Brian’s presence. She hated him deeply, yet had feared him for most of her life. Her entire personality had been constructed around her terror of this man, who was worse than Gorch in many ways—certainly just as bad. This man had caused nearly all of her fear.

Her muscles turned almost limp. He seized her by the throat, as he always did to assert his control over her, and shoved her against the wall. She trembled violently, her legs turning to water. Helpless in his presence, she wondered why she couldn’t move. What was wrong with her?

“I’ve missed you, Laura,” he said, his face inches from hers. His breath reeked of an acrid mix of cigarettes, coffee, and unclean teeth, just as it always did. He kissed her hard, thrusting his tongue as far into her mouth as he could. That was the trigger that set her off.

As his free hand slipped into her shirt, she reached over the arm holding her against the wall, seized his wrist, and twisted it with all her might.

“What—!” was all he managed to utter before his face hit the floor. She kicked him hard in the ribs and was about to kick him again when he rolled away with surprising quickness. He stood, looking both alarmed and furious.

He cursed at her wildly, then shouted, “I’m gonna beat the living hell out of you!” Rubbing his sore wrist, he fixed her with a deadly gaze. Laura regretted not breaking his arm when she had the chance. This was her moment to run—hit and run. She headed for the door.

“Like hell you’ll get away from me!” he yelled, lunging forward but stumbling over the edge of the coffee table. On his knees, he looked up at her with fire in his eyes. In that instant, she knew he intended to kill her. He cursed again.

She gripped the doorknob with time to spare. Hit and run. Without taking her eyes off his, she reached for the top lock on the door and bolted it shut. She followed with the second lock, her hands instinctively finding the locking mechanism. The last thing she secured was the chain.

In an instant, the fear that had consumed her dissipated, replaced by an icy hatred that transformed her shaky legs into steel.

“What’re you doing?” For the first time, Brian looked unsure. Laura glared at him with all the hatred she could muster. She advanced in long, sudden strides and kicked him in the face before he could regain his footing. Hit and run.

Not this time.

At 20, Lee Gemmill set off on a hitchhiking adventure from Virginia to California, climbing Handies Peak in Colorado and losing all his food to sneaky ground squirrels in the Grand Canyon along the way. A former biology and anatomy teacher with 32 years of experience in Virginia, he’s now retired and fully dedicated to writing.
Lee’s mission is to reshape storytelling by blending fantasy, science fiction, and horror into unforgettable tales. Operation Cast Lead

@RABTBookTours #RABTBookTours #OperationCastLead #BanafshehZia #Nonfiction

Nonfiction

Date Published: 08-28-2025

Publisher: Tellwell

Ambiguity has been the story of our era since Operation Cast Lead. The author found herself in the middle of ambiguous theme, dialogue, plot, and portrayal while engaging with a love story on General Hospital in 2008/2009. There was the question mark about the female character: Was she going to be humiliated?

Operation Cast Lead ensued as a mechanism to decide the fate and resolution of this question. The author was conflicted as her tendency to humiliate herself in her fantasies interfered with how she interpreted the story and how she responded to it while Operation Cast Lead unfolded, a war that took place between Hamas and IDF at the climax of the story of Sonny and Kate.

What was the truth of this connection? Why has Gaza been held hostage to this story ever since? What’s the way forward for Israelis and Palestinians? What’s the way forward for humanity?

The book argues that Operation Cast Lead was a design, and attempts to place the case within the current framework of international law while acknowledging that there are fundamental flaws in this framework and that there should be transformation at the foundation of international law for humanity to have a breakthrough and realize true freedom.

This book reveals a secret about history. A secret that would explain why the conflict in the Middle East has not met its resolution. As well as the conflict at the core of humanity.

Overcome Addiction

Self-Help

Date Published: December 17, 2025

Overcome Addiction Through Meditation, Fasting and Stress Management offers a clear, grounded and deeply practical path for anyone determined to break free from a harmful addictive cycle. Instead of relying on willpower alone, this book guides you toward strengthening the mind, restoring balance to the brain, and reducing cravings at their source.

Addiction is not a fixed state – it is a challenge that can be overcome with the right tools. Here, you will learn how three simple, accessible practices, meditation, fasting and stress management, work together to rebalance the five key neurotransmitters disrupted by addiction: dopamine, serotonin, GABA, glutamate and norepinephrine. By restoring this balance, the brain becomes calmer, clearer and far more capable of resisting impulsive urges and compulsive cravings.

Through straightforward explanations and real-world examples, the book shows:

• Why meditation elevates dopamine, serotonin and GABA to reduce cravings and strengthen self-control

• How fasting lowers glutamate, quiets compulsive drives, and supports mental clarity

• Why unmanaged stress triggers relapse – and how simple daily habits can keep norepinephrine in check

• How changing your environment, your routines and even your mindset dramatically increases your chance of success

Find practical guidance on building consistency, overcoming setbacks, developing patience, and staying grounded during the recovery process. These tools are not harsh, complicated or costly – each one is easy to apply and becomes more powerful with repetition.

Whether you are struggling yourself or supporting someone on their journey, this book gives you an approach that is gentle, logical and evidence-based. By focusing on the process rather than the fear of relapse, you will develop the strength, clarity and balance needed to reclaim your life…

One peaceful, steady step at a time.

About the Author

Janell Strube makes a mean barbecue sauce. She’s also a world traveler, a baker, and a bicyclist. But when she writes, her identity as an adoptee often steers her attention to topics of alienation, erased history, and displacement.

In 2024, a personal essay of hers was published in the anthology Adoption and Suicidality. Her work has also appeared in Shaking the Tree: brazen. short. memoir and A Year in Ink. Her short memoir, “Taking my Blonde Daughter to a Black Lives Matter Rally,” was selected for the 2020 San Diego Memoir Showcase, an annual live storytelling event.

While much of her writing is personal, she enjoys the freedom that comes with crafting fiction. Her desire to learn about forgotten female artists who shaped the French revolutionary period motivated her to write Adélaïde: Painter of the Revolution.

When not crunching numbers as a tax executive for a hotel chain, she can be found hanging out with Shiloh the Wheaten and plotting her second book.

If Two of Them Are Dead

Spy Thriller / Historical Fiction

Date Published: October 9, 2025

Publisher: Manhattan Book Group

Two spies. Two centuries. One mistake that erases the United States of America.

When Ruth, a modern-day CIA counterintelligence officer, uncovers signs of a mole no one believes exists—a potential fourth Soviet spy left over from the Cold War—her investigation is abruptly derailed by an impossible event. Thrown back through time to the American Revolutionary War, Ruth finds herself face-to-face with Agent 355, the legendary—and still unidentified—female spy of George Washington’s Culper Ring.

Separated by 250 years yet bound by shared instincts, courage, and tradecraft, the two women quickly recognize each other as fellow intelligence officers. Together, they uncover a covert plot that, if left unchecked, will alter the course of history itself—resulting in a chilling alternate reality: the British States of America.

When Ruth returns to the present, the world she knew is gone. The United States no longer exists. Instead, she is working for MI7, piecing together clues that link her failed mole hunt to the catastrophic change she triggered in 1780. To restore history—and democracy—Ruth must find a way to repair the past without destroying the future.

If Two of Them Are Dead reimagines Agent 355 as the founding mother of American intelligence, bringing her out of historical anonymity and into a gripping narrative that celebrates the often-unrecognized role of women in espionage. The novel explores how effective spycraft transcends time—relying on deception close to truth, strategic disinformation, vigilance, and counter-surveillance—while highlighting the unique advantages women have historically brought to intelligence work precisely because they were underestimated.

Blending spy thriller, historical fiction, and science fiction, this novel is both a pulse-pounding adventure and a reflection on the enduring threats to democracy. Ruth’s unresolved mole investigation seamlessly sets the stage for future books in the series—without leaving readers stranded on a cliffhanger.

Perfect for fans of espionage thrillers, time-travel fiction, Revolutionary War history, and readers eager to uncover America’s best-kept secrets as the nation approaches its semiquincentennial.
