About the Author


Retired IT professional, James Owens is a trained computer engineer and technical documentation specialist who earned an A.A.S. in computer programming and a B.A. in English from Purdue University.

Immensely curious about human behavior, James spent the 1970s hanging out on the streets to observe people, many of whom became inspirations for his fictional characters. Later, he worked in cube farms at conservative insurance companies, where the idiosyncrasies of corporate personalities sparked his imagination.

James has spent the last decade reading and writing offbeat fiction about bizarre protagonists. Corporate Almighty: 2098, a dystopian tale about the rise of the corporation and the fall of democracy, follows his first two novels, Animal Candy and Pods of Bubbledumb: A Study in Mass Depravity.

She did just that in The Plight of the Pudgy, combining musical parodies with literature to teach others how to overcome obstacles and rise above adversity. She is actively involved with the Writer’s Well at the White Bear Center for the Arts and gathers with other inspiring writers of all ages to explore their creativity. She also consults with the Springboard Center for the Arts in St. Paul, MN for further resources.

She and her husband of 38 years share a dynamic love for better for worse, in sickness and in health, that has endured all things.

She is also a proud parent of two sons and has two beautiful daughters-in-law who share life’s joys and challenges. Rain Hunter is a writer of post-apocalyptic science fiction. Having spent years as a materials researcher, Rain intricately weaves scientific precision into the stories. “I’ve had a fun lab run over the years and might have picked some degrees on the way,” laughs Rain. “But the most important thing for my books is that the science has to be real. No more can-and-know-it-all characters! If I know how to cook meth from baking soda and cough syrup, I won’t be able to start a rocket engine, full stop. Even in fiction!”

Author Bio: Robert Craven is an award-winning author of thrilling fiction. His novel, “Eagles Hunt Wolves,” was the winner of the 2021 Firebird Book Award for best Action/Adventure. He was born on July 2nd, 1966 in Swinton, Manchester, and now resides in Rush, Co. Dublin with his wife and family.

Robert’s passion for writing began in 1992 when he submitted a short horror story, “The Chase,” to the speculative fiction magazine FTL, which was accepted and published. Since then, he has authored several books in various genres, including the Eva series (“Get Lenin,” “Zinnman,” “A Finger of Night,” “Hollow Point,” and “Eagles Hunt Wolves”), the Steampunk novel “The Mandarin Cipher,” and the crime thriller “A Kind of Drowning.”

In addition to his novels, Robert has also had short stories published in three anthologies and two articles published in The Oslo Times online newspaper. He is also a regular reviewer of CDs for the Irish Independent Review Ireland.
