I reviewed The Asian Slow Cooker Recipes by Kelly Kwok I also had a chance to catch up and have a quick chat with her. The book has given us great ideas, we tried a couple of the recipes and they were spot on.
The Tour also has a great giveaway so follow the page to the very end.
1) Welcome to Defining Ways Kelly can you tell me a little bit about
yourself?
I’m happy to be here! I’m a mom of two and I blog over at Life Made
Sweeter where I share family friendly recipes and easy sweet treats.
2) When did you start to cook? Do you have any fun stories about cooking bloopers?
I’ve always had a strong interest in cooking so I began following my parents
around in the kitchen ever since I can remember. They started giving me easy
tasks to do when I was 12 then by the time I was 14 I began making our
family’s meals all by myself.
There have been a few mishaps though. I remember constantly forgetting that
I left the stove on and walking away while I was boiling soup. Needless to
say there were many messes I’ve had to clean up during those years 🙂
3) I love the dedication in your book. To your Mon and in Loving Memory of
your guardian Angels. I think the heart and soul of any home is the kitchen,
can you tell us about any Kitchen Guardian Angels?
Thank you. Growing up, the kitchen has always been a place for our entire
family to gather and spend time together. We would sit down and make
spring rolls together while catching up on what everyone was up to.
One of my fondest memories was when my grandma would tell us stories from
her childhood. Now that she’s no longer with us, I still feel that strong
connection with her anytime I make one of her favorite dishes.
4) I grew up with pressure cooker meals (the city of my childhood has very high
altitude and thus cooking takes longer). Today I use both a pressure cooker
and a slow cooker. Are there any other fun kitchen gadgets you have as
practical favorites?
A rice cooker is definitely a kitchen gadget we use daily. It’s not only great for
cooking that perfect bowl of steaming rice, it can cook oatmeal and steam
veggies as well.
5) Is there anything else you’d like to share with our guests her a Defining
Ways?
Thanks so much for having me here today. Hopefully I can inspire some of
you to try adding some new flavors to your slow cooker meals 🙂
I love cookbooks. This one has several fabulous pluses. To start
with the book is dedicated to amongst others the authors Guardian Angels and I
guess they know their spices.
impressed. My husband has earmarked a few pages, so I am in for great treats!
