A workplace rivalry. An isolated campus. A tragic death.

Never make a major life decision in the wake of emotional turmoilCassie Romano learned this the hard way, leaving sunny San Diego for a teaching position at a private school in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York after a painful break-up left her heart-broken and in need of a change.

It all seemed so perfect in June when she came to interview. But now it’s December, and she’s stranded on top of a mountain surrounded by snow, ice, and acres of wilderness, lonelier than ever and bored out of her mind.

When a fellow teacher turns up dead and Cassie receives a cryptic letter from her a few days later, it’s clear to Cassie that something strange is going on at Falcon Ridge Academy. Everyone seems to be writing the death off as a tragic accident, but she’s not so sure.

Cassie has secrets of her own, though, so she’s initially reluctant to get involved. Torn between the urge to protect herself and the desire to investigate further, she decides on the latter.

And the consequences could be deadly.

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Suspense

Dark, quirky, urban fantasy with a mystery plot, a dash of social commentary, and a sprinkling of slow-burn romantic potential.

Personal Demons

The Rifter Series Book 2

by L.R. Braden

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Suspense

Protecting her secret and hunting demons is a matter of survival for possessed-practitioner Mira Fuentes. She’s spent years learning to work with the snarky demon housed in her body, and it hasn’t always gone smoothly. Nor has her recent partnership with an agent of the Paranatural Task Force. Ty Williams—uncomfortably-attractive and overly-protective—may never fully accept that his partner has a literal inner demon.

But work-life-demon balance is the least of Mira’s problems when a figure from her past drags her back to the hometown she’s avoided for nearly a decade to investigate a string of potentially-magical disappearances. Someone or something is snatching teens from the local high school.

Emotionally off-balance in a city full of old ghosts and new dangers, Mira will have to confront her past to discover what is hunting the innocent.

Demon Riding Shotgun

The Rifter Series Book 1

Possessed by a demon since she was eleven years old, Mira Fuentes maintains a fragile alliance with the snarky soul who shares her body. Together they hunt down unstable Rifters– demon-controlled humans bent on causing chaos in the mortal realm. But when a routine hunt leads to a powerful Rifter with plans for Baltimore, Mira quickly finds herself in over her head and at the top of the city’s Most Wanted.

Recently retired from the PTF after losing his partner, Ty Williams now works for the Baltimore PD and keeps his distance from cases involving magic. But when a person dies of clearly magical causes and the PTF doesn’t have any agents to spare, Ty is the closest thing the department has to an expert. Saddled with a new partner he doesn’t want and a mountain of self-doubt, it’s his job to track down a suspect who looks suspiciously like the one-night-stand he brought home from the bar last night.

Mira will have to set her trust issues aside and enlist the help of a man determined to uncover her secrets if she hopes to learn the identity of the demon’s host and prevent the human race from becoming meat puppets for the denizens of the Rift.

Finding the Zodiac Killer

by DAVID DANIEL

True Crime,  Serial Killers True Accounts ,  Crime & Criminal Biographies

Date Published:  October 1, 2023

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, a serial killer, who called himself the ZODIAC, terrorized Northern California with cold-blooded murders and a series of taunting ciphers and letters. His first set of three ciphers, considered at the time to be one, were sent to three newspapers in 1969. They were cracked by a couple within a week. On July 11, 2021, David Daniel read, where the Zodiac had stated in a letter, that the three ciphers contained his identity, but the couple and the authorities claimed that it wasn’t there. David believed that the authorities had said the ciphers didn’t reveal the Zodiac’s identity for one reason—they couldn’t find it. He knew it was there and he knew that he would find it. He looked at the first of the three ciphers—the one that the Zodiac had sent to the Vallejo Times Herald. Within three to seven seconds, he knew he had solved the nation’s most notorious unsolved murder case. David studied the cipher further and looked at other ciphers that the killer had sent. One by one he cracked the ciphers and completely solved another. Within two minutes he had absolutely confirmed the secret identity of the ZODIAC killer multiple times. Law enforcement and cryptographers have been searching for his identity for over 50 years. Finally, the search is over. He has been found!

About the Author

Let me tell you a little about myself. In the 1970s, I predicted that the serial killer called the Hillside Strangler were two people (not one) and that they were stepbrothers or step cousins. I was right. I predicted that another serial killer, the Grim Sleeper, lived near 81st and Western in Los Angeles. When they found him, he lived three houses down from the corner of 81st and Western.

When the TV series The Mentalist came out in 2008, I deciphered codes, unscrambled anagrams, and solved multiple clues and I knew the secret identity of Red John—the fictitious serial killer on the series—after the first two episodes. I have written a book about my discoveries called The Mentalist Code and the Search for Red John.

Now I have cracked the ciphers and clues sent by the real serial killer—The Zodiac—who terrorized Northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Cryptologists, law enforcement and other have been seeking his identity for over 50 years.

My book—The Code: The Secret Code Hidden in the English Language—which details my amazing discovery of a secret code hidden in the English language is too shocking to believe—will be coming out within weeks.

Magic in Errors

A Mystery

Mystery

Date Published: 10-14-2023

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

His world. Her world. My world. Your world. It’s all the same, yet entirely different. It’s nothing but another one of God’s oxymorons laughing at us. Some people spend their entire life waiting for an epiphany. While some live.

Sneha Babu’s debut novel Magic in Errors unravels a story showing how the Universe works in beautiful and heart-breaking ways—beginning with a neon-colored hair tie. Over the course of a few days, this seemingly insignificant accessory passes through the hands of six people; strangers, lovers, friends, and enemies. Every encounter sets off a chain reaction of events, forever altering their lives in ways they never could have imagined.

Amidst their unique struggles, a slum boy, musician, policeman, celebrity, movie agent, and businesswoman grapple with the struggle to truly live rather than merely survive. Their lives intertwine in intricate ways, as they confront devastating choices, experience powerful emotions, and endure lasting tragedies, even long after one of them murders another.

What lessons can the world teach us? Does it always pay to be kind? How could someone be connected to a person they have never met? How can a hair tie change the course of someone’s life? Find out in Magic in Errors.

EXCERPT

Now that Aanjaney is alone once more, he carefully opens the envelope, seeing it’s a little wet from the rain, and pulls out the letter. He carefully holds the piece of paper and starts reading.

Hi there,

So, yeah. I’m dead. Are you crying?

It’s two in the morning. My room is filled with the smell of freshly-bloomed jasmines from outside, but they’re not half as pretty as you, I swear. Many years ago, do you know what I told people when they asked me how we were so in love all the time? I told them it’s because we count stars at night together and give shapes to clouds during the day. Now, I don’t know where you are or how you are doing. But I do know that you are still somewhere under those few billion stars we counted. After you were gone, I remember missing you between my laughs and all the imaginary kisses we shared. You and I, we made a pretty great team—all the weirdness included.

All the secrets beyond the skies, layers and layers of history safeguarded by the earth, and the never-ending horizon. Yet, it’s strange how two tiny specks find each other, unlocking magic as limitless as the cosmos. It’s fascinating that mere fragments of this marvelous oeuvre have a unique story written for them in the stars. Sadly, our story reached an expiry date. But that doesn’t make it any less real. The point is, I want you to live your life. I am glad I met you, Aanjaney Iyer. Now, whatever happens next, I know I have lived because I have loved.

Eventually, the dusk of your life will open its sleepy eyes, ready to show you the incredible morning. When the first rays come knocking on your windows, don’t be afraid to pull up the blinds. You’ll see. You’ll see that light won’t hurt. I don’t know when or how I might die. I just hope it’s not too soon. I used to think of time as sand slipping away from my feet. When we were together, those sands held my roots. We grew up laughing, loving, and making mistakes together with a fortunate stroke of serendipity. Now, I am not so sure… I just… Did I find a family, Aanjaney? Did I die sad? I am sure Raphael will take care of everything. He wouldn’t let me die like an old maiden. Beneath all that anger, he is a sweet, little man. Old, but still sexy, right?

Don’t miss me too much, okay? Now, stop worrying.

I liked you because I thought you were perfect. I loved you when I realized you weren’t. There’s magic in errors, darling. Real stuff.

So, be happy. Love hard. Be fierce.

Yours,

Yours

(PS: Get ready for some serious haunting.)

Aanjaney folds the letter neatly before putting it in his pocket. He walks into the rain for one final touch.
