Character Post: Detective Mick Meiser
I’ve wanted to work in law enforcement my entire life—as far back as I can remember. I have VERY good reasons for wanting to have order in my life—one in which is a secret that I want to keep from Jolie. I don’t want to lose her, and I’m not sure she’d understand.
Life hit me below the belt recently with an illness. I’m struggling to cope with the diagnosis. All of my hard work to become a cop, then working my way up the ladder to detective in my early thirties could all be thrown out the door in a matter of years. Everything depends on the prognosis of this disease. But I have a back-up plan. Of course, I’m juggling all of this when into my life walks this curly-haired blonde with these huge, indigo-blue eyes, I tell you, they are bottomless. They have seen things, but they never look scared. woman with these amazing indigo, ocean blue eyes behind those long, blonde curls that look tired from life but never look scared. She points those beautiful things at me and it’s like she sees me and all my past and my pain—which is weird. I know she doesn’t know—but it feels like she gets it. She’s smarter than any woman I’ve met–my age or older. She’s got an old soul. She’s so honest—and not at the same time. She’ll lie right to my face, then take it all back in less than a minute. She’s an enigma—that’s for sure.
Even though my past and my illness haunt me daily, I’ve found happiness in this small village of Leavensport. Right now, I’m just renting. I haven’t fully put down roots, but I plan to. So far, I’m able to continue as a detective. My brother, who was the mayor of Tri-City where I used to live, and work caused a ruckus recently and had to resign. I’ve managed to not have to go into too much detail over that mess—so far.
I can feel a shift in the air. Things are changing in Leavensport—heating up with the summer months. I plan on getting Jolie on a date if it’s the last thing I do. But I also fear some dark secrets will come out.
