HIDDING by JENNY MORTON POTTS

A gripping psychological thriller with
chilling twists, from a unique new voice.

Keller Baye and Rebecca Brown live on
different sides of the Atlantic. Until she falls in love with him, Rebecca
knows nothing of Keller. But he’s known about her for a very long time, and now
he wants to destroy her.

This is the story of two families. One
living under the threat of execution in North Carolina. The other caught up in
a dark mystery in the Scottish Highlands. The families’ paths are destined to
cross. But why? And can anything save them when that happens?

1) What inspired you
to write this book?

The horrific
consequences of children who are abandoned, is a subject which I believe needs
all of our attention. We ignore situations at our peril. This is what I burned
to explore. There is so much that we could all easily do to improve the
‘circumstances’ of children.

2) How long did it
take you to write the book?

My books typically
take about 6 months to write but a further 6 months to a year to fully
percolate and form till I’m happy to let them go out into the world alone.

3) Coffee or
Tea?

Both. I prefer coffee
but I drink more tea. This is because I think tea is better for me. Or perhaps
to withhold treats till I think I deserve them!

4) Describe your
special writing place

I have a cabin in the
garden which I bought on Ebay and it came from Lithuania. It is painted a blue
grey and I love it. Sometimes it is used for guests to sleep in. My son also
paints in there, so it’s a lively, happy place but calm when I am there
writing.

5)Are you a plotter or
a pantser?

I am both. I think for
the first few years, I was a total pantser and this was perhaps necessary, to
give myself the freedom to write what had to be written. Now I am free of my
own ‘circumstances’ and have a cooler eye for structure, for organisation. But
characterisation will always be my overriding passion.

Jenny Morton Potts was born in a smart,
dull suburb of Glasgow where the only regular excitement was burglary. Attended
a smart, dull school where the only regular excitement was the strap. Worked in
smart, dull sales and marketing jobs until realising she was living someone
else’s life.

Escaped to Gascony to make gîtes. Knee
deep in cement and pregnant, Jenny was happy. Then autism and a distracted
spine surgeon who wanted to talk about The Da Vinci Code, wiped out the order.
Returned to wonderful England – and unlikely ever to leave again – Jenny, with
assistance from loyal hound, walked and swam her way back to manageable health.

Jenny would like to see the Northern
Lights but worries that’s the best bit and should be saved till last. Very
happily, and gratefully, partnered for 28 years, she ought to mention, and
living with inspirational child in Thaxted, Essex.

The Secret Lab by A.B. Carolan

YA Sci-fi Mystery
Date Published: March 2018
Publisher: Carrick Publishing; 2 edition

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png
In the future when humans are exploring the home solar system, four kids discover a mutant cat on the International Space Station. In solving the mystery of the cat’s origin, they uncover an old conspiracy. Young readers will identify with the kids’ problems; they and older readers who are young-at-heart will enjoy the suspense and science and identify with the themes. Return to the magic that is found in sci-fi.
The cat’s name is Mr. Paws. He’s an expert mathematician and becomes the kids’ friend who’s willing to help them with their calculus homework. But he’s also attached to his creator, a stealthy presence who runs a secret genetics lab. Why does that lab exist? Who finances it? And who on the space station are his collaborators? The kids’ parents? Station personnel? The twists and turns will keep the reader guessing.
About the Author

I am a collaborator of the American author Steven M. Moore. We met at Blarney Castle in Ireland (appropriate, don’t you think?). After a wee bit of chatting there and emails to and fro, I signed on to be his collaborator for all his YA books. I love writing for young adults and adults who are young at heart. Some people think I’m related to that great Irish harpist and singer, Turlough O’Carolan, but who knows?–I don’t think any of his DNA is around to check. Others say I was stolen and raised by leprechauns. We do a lot of kidding in Donegal, but maybe they know something I don’t.

Interview with David Beem about EDGER

*Go to bottom of post for a chance to win a $75 USD gift card on AMAZON

1) Has humor served you in life as a coping or survival tool?
No—but survival tools have served my humor.
About a year ago, I went out and bought a limited edition Swiss Army Knife. Now that thing writes all my jokes. It’s true what they say: Swiss Army Knives really can do anything.

2) Are you funny in real life or just on paper?
Well, I don’t know. I mean, I can be funny on paper. But I’m funnier on a charging rhinoceros in Spanx. RWAAAARR!!

3) Were you THE class clown?

No, but while we’re on the subject of clowns: I once saw a clown doing sit-ups. It’s funny how things work out.

4) Are you often surprised when you try to be serious and people say, you’re so funny?

It usually goes the other way. Everyone says my jokes come out like a thinly veiled cry for help. Of course, they say that about all the hostages in this godforsaken hellhole.

5) Please share the best family friendly joke you have ever heard.

I shot an elephant in my underpants. How he got in my underpants, I’ll never know.

Thank you for sharing your book Edger and insights into your humor.

Thank you for showcasing it on your blog!

Edger by David Beem

Meet Edger (Ed-jer), a twenty-six-year-old gadget retail dork destined to become the world’s first superhero!

His superpower: the ability to channel the Collective Unconscious, a psychic network connecting the living and the dead. In his arsenal are the skills of Bruce Lee, the strength of Samson, the wisdom of the ages…and the dancing chops of Michael Jackson—including that one twisty foot move, crotch grab, and fedora tilt.

But there’s a catch…

Like every psychic superpower to get administered through a hypodermic needle, this one comes with a prick. Someone seems to have misplaced the booster necessary for stabilizing his superpower. Without it, Edger has three days before his brain turns to pudding.

Join our Dork of Destiny as he overcomes the world’s greatest butt, two rival Cluck-n-Pray gangs, an evil cow, a Green Bay Defensive Tackle, rifle-toting assassins—and a pair of stoners who inadvertently create the world’s first supervillain after a wild night on Twitter!
